About Leaky Boot Press
Leaky Boot Press exists to publish important works of fiction, poetry and non-fiction that the accountants who run the large publishing companies lack the vision to publish.
The Leaky Boot Press name
The inspiration for the name Leaky Boot Press is a small statue of a boy holding aloft his right boot. The oldest examples of the statue date from the mid nineteenth century and it is sometimes used as a public fountain with water perpetually leaking from the boot. The origins of the statue are unclear and it has been variously described as a young Italian newspaper seller who drowned, an American army drummer-boy who carried water in his leaking boot to help fallen comrades and a young fire-fighter using his boot to carry water to fight a fire—none of these may be correct. Versions of the statue are recorded in many countries including England, Sweden, Cuba, the United States, Canada and Venezuela.
